Elangomat Training
Onondaga Lodge takes pride in our
Elangomats. Their work and dedication help bring new members into
our lodge. Elangomats are friends, guides, and examples for the
Ordeal Candidates. In order to be an Elangomat, you must take a
short Elangomat Training course. This course will include useful
information on how to be a leader throughout the ordeal induction
process. If you are interested in becoming an elangomat, please
email the officers.
OA Unit Elections Training
Unit Elections is a key part of the induction
of new members. Onondaga Lodge conducts one OA election for each BSA
troop in the council each year. OA unit elections are a time for the
youth in troops to elect the member(s) they believe are worth to wear the
sash. Adults are also elected at this time. This training is
offered at almost all lodge functions, and is very informative. The
training session includes a viewing of the unit elections video plus discussion
on speaking at OA unit elections. Another important part of this
class is the demonstration on how to fill out the unit election forms
properly. If you would like to participate in this training session,
then attend the fellowships.
Ceremonies Training
The lodge ceremonies team is just one of the
few American Indian Activities that the lodge has. Onondaga's
ceremony teams perform many ceremonies throughout the year including: call
out, Arrow of Light, Cub Scout crossover, Ordeal, Brotherhood, and Vigil
ceremonies. All of these are essential to the lodge program and
function. The members teaching the ceremonies training will help you
with line memorization skills, performance skills, acting skills,
and Native American outfitting. If you are interested in ceremonies,
contact the team.
Dance & Drum Training
The drum team has been a part of the lodge
AIA program for several years, but the dance team was just added in
2003. These two programs are the heart of American Indian Activities
(AIA) in the Order of the Arrow. The dance & drum training
sessions will help members become familiar with the Native Amercian
culture. The members on the team will teach you how to dance, study
dance, sing on the drum, and proper etiquette. If you are interested
in joining the Dance & Drum Team, contact the Chairmen
and Advisors.
OA Troop Representative Training
The OA troop representative is a nationally
recognized youth position in the BSA. Troop representatives are
links between the lodge and the troop. They help pass on news,
information, and resources to their troop from the lodge. The troop
representative training teaches youth the importance of communication
among the troops and lodge, and it describes the responsibilities of a
troop representative. If you would like to participate in this
training, then attend the fellowships in the spring and fall.
Patch Trading & Collecting 101 (PTC)
Patch Trading & Collecting 101 (PTC) is a
brand new program from Onondaga Lodge #36. The very first training
session was held at the Spring Fellowship in March 2004. This session
is taught by the notorious Onondaga patch trading veteran, Erv
Trubiano and a few youth traders. This training program introduces youth and adults to the world of patch trading. Some of
the skills taught will be patch protection techniques, proper trading etiquette,
fair trading, on-line trading, and more! If you would like to
participate in this trading program, then please attend the fellowships. If you have questions, contact Stephen
Pavlock.
OA University of C-5A
Train the Trainer

be held on November 12th - 14th at Camp Lazarus in Columbus, Oh.
The ALTC is designed for lodge leaders or future lodge leaders.
