Lodge Training
Elangomat Training
Onondaga Lodge takes pride in our Elangomats. Their work and dedication help bring new members into our lodge. Elangomats are friends, guides, and examples for the Ordeal Candidates. In order to be an Elangomat, you must take a short Elangomat Training course. This course will include useful information on how to be a leader throughout the ordeal induction process. If you are interested in becoming an elangomat, please contact Chappy.
OA Unit Elections Training
Unit Elections is a key part of the induction of new members. Onondaga Lodge conducts one OA election for each BSA troop in the council each year. OA unit elections are a time for the youth in troops to elect the member(s) they believe are worth to wear the sash. Adults are also elected at this time. This training is offered at almost all lodge functions, and is very informative. The training session includes a viewing of the unit elections video plus discussion on speaking at OA unit elections. Another important part of this class is the demonstration on how to fill out the unit election forms properly. If you would like to participate in this training session, then attend the fellowships.
Ceremonies Training
The lodge ceremonies team is just one of the few American Indian Activities that the lodge has. Onondaga's ceremony teams perform many ceremonies throughout the year including: call out, Arrow of Light, Cub Scout crossover, Ordeal, Brotherhood, and Vigil ceremonies. All of these are essential to the lodge program and function. The members teaching the ceremonies training will help you with line memorization skills, performance skills, acting skills, and Native American outfitting. If you are interested in ceremonies, contact Zip.
Dance & Drum Training
The drum team has been a part of the lodge AIA program for several years, but the dance team was just added in 2003. These two programs are the heart of American Indian Activities (AIA) in the Order of the Arrow. The dance & drum training sessions will help members become familiar with the Native Amercian culture. The members on the team will teach you how to dance, study dance, sing on the drum, and proper etiquette. If you are interested in joining the Dance & Drum Team, contact The Vice-Chief of Program.
OA Troop Representative Training
The OA troop representative is a nationally recognized youth position in the BSA. Troop representatives are links between the lodge and the troop. They help pass on news, information, and resources to their troop from the lodge. The troop representative training teaches youth the importance of communication among the troops and lodge, and it describes the responsibilities of a troop representative. If you would like to participate in this training, then attend the fellowships in the spring and fall.

This event introduces the many different aspects of leadership, and it will expose the different parts of the OA to those members who are new. If you would like to attend and you are not a leader, then the cost is $35.00. Hovever, if one of the lodge or chapter leaders is unable to go, then your spot will be paid.
