Lodge Ordeals

What are Ordeal Weekends?  Well, Ordeal Weekends are a time where our lodge inducts scouts who were elected by their troop and then called out by our lodge.  Onondaga Lodge holds 2 ordeals throughout the year.  One ordeal in the Spring and one in the Summer, both of which are held at Fort Steuben Scout Reservation.

However, an Ordeal Weekend is not only for Ordeal Candidates, but for the entire lodge.  We also conduct Brotherhood Conversion Ceremonies, in which Ordeal members confirm their membership in our lodge and go through the second level of the OA.  In addition, many arrowmen also attend the Ordeal Weekends just for fun and fellowship.

With the completion of the induction ceremonies on Saturday night, we hold a lodge meeting and church service on Sunday.  However, there is a difference between the Spring Ordeal Lodge meeting and the Fall Ordeal Lodge meeting.  At the Ordeal Weekend in the Fall, we hold our annual election for Lodge officers.  We encourage our membership to always make their best effort to come to Lodge events, especially to the Fall Ordeal so that they can have a vote in the election of the New Lodge Leadership.
